Who We Are

Nomadic Mechanic is Squamish and Vancouver’s very own mobile bike shop, bringing professional bike services and repairs straight to you door. With a collective 20 years experience fixing, tuning, and riding bikes, our mechanics strive to get you back in the saddle as quickly and safely as possible.

The Team

Nomadic Mechanic was born out of a passion for bikes. Co-founders Rigel and Nima, having first met fixing bikes for MEC, wanted to provide Vancouver riders with a more personal and efficient bike maintenance solution. By transforming their vans into mobile bike shops they no longer need to rely on the customer to deliver them their bikes. Keep an eye out for the Nomadic Mechanic team next time you’re riding around the city or on the trails of Squamish, and don’t be afraid to stop and say “hi”!

Rigel Sun

Rigel is Nomadic Mechanic’s co-founder and Head Technician with over 8 years of bike mechanic experience. Before starting Nomadic Mechanic, Rigel split his time between wrenching on bikes at MEC and guiding exotic multi-day cycling trips for Backroads all across the Canadian Rockies, Europe, and New Zealand. Now he gets to combine his technical knowledge and passion for cycling under one roof; Nomadic Mechanic - Mobile Bicycle Services. Rigel has been hard at work getting the newly established Squamish shop up and running, and popping back into Vancouver to service all kinds of bikes. When not working, he can be found shredding the gnarly Squamish singletrack on his beloved mountain bike or trying a little too hard at a casual game of Spikeball-Pro. Rigel loves to talk everything and anything bikes, don’t hesitate to ask him lots of questions but be warned; he may talk your ear off!

Jordan Field

Originally from Southeast England, Jordan Field has been working in the professional bike industry since 2017. He grew up riding bikes, but mountain biking became an obsession around the age of 12 when he started spending countless hours watching Canadian freeride mountain bike films. After years of dreaming of visiting Canada, Jordan got a working visa in 2018 and settled in Canmore with a job as a bike mechanic for a travel company operating cycling tours through the Canadian Rockies. After gaining permanent residency status, he set his sights on moving to his dream town of Squamish, BC and joined the Nomadic Mechanic Squamish team in April of 2023. Whether on the trail or pavement, Jordan loves a good hill climb! He celebrated finishing his university degree by following the Tour de France route to tackle some of the toughest climbs in the French Alps, and ticked one of the world's longest road climb's, Mauna Loa, off his bucket list in 2018. His favourite bike service to provide to the community is supporting new riders in getting their bikes set up so they can feel as comfortable and confident as possible while out on the trails and roads. When Jordan isn’t fixing or riding bikes, you’ll find him rock climbing or scoping out the best cups of coffee around town (definitely another one of his fields of expertise)!

Frederick “Frankie” Franken

Frankie is Nomadic Mechanic’s Vancouver-area manager, and one of our senior technicians on the team. Frankie brings 10 years of professional bike mechanic industry experience, and even more years of racing and riding all disciplines of bikes (although these days you’ll mostly find him on the saddle of his mountain or gravel bike). Originally from South Africa, Frankie has been a local for the past 9 years, meaning his knowledge of our bike-minded city and province is as expansive as his maintenance and repair skills. When he’s not working on bikes or out riding the North Shore’s tech trails, you’ll probably find him out in the mountains by foot, rope, or ski, and adventuring around all of the beauty that BC has to offer. Frankie loves to share his knowledge about bicycles - if you see him out and about in the silver van, be sure to stop and say hi!
